Nowhere on earth can visitors experience such a range of spectacular diving - from encounters with huge whale sharks and oceanic manta rays, to muck dives with beautiful Rhinopias and the exceedingly rare psychedelic frogfish.

Guests of Onong Resort have direct access to Celebes Divers' impressive dive centre which is located just beside the resort. The dive centre boasts a large drying room, individual storage booths for guests’ personal equipment and an air-conditioned camera room for storing and preparing photography equipment. This resort’s house reef is one of the nicest in Bunaken National Park, and guests are free to explore the reef at anytime by snorkelling or on a guided dive. Regular night and sunset dives are also organised. The dive centre offers valet-style diving, ensuring equipment is ready for guests whenever they need it. Full equipment rental is available from the dive centre which uses aluminium tanks with INT and DIN connectors, and Nitrox 32% is available at an additional cost.
The dive centre’s traditional fibreglass dive boats are both spacious and comfortable, boasting a fully-covered seating area, sun deck and toilet. Boats carry fresh water for cameras as well as refreshments such as fresh fruit, cookies, drinking water, coffee and tea. Oxygen and first aid kits are also stored onboard each boat. Groups are kept to four divers per guide and all dives are organised as if there is current, meaning divers must carry a safety buoy. SSI training from beginner to instructor are offered by the dive centre as well as a range of speciality courses. Day trips to Lembeh, Nain Island and Manado Bay can also be arranged.
Celebes Divers is in partnership with Climatepartner – a renowned organisation which helps companies offset their carbon footprint – who worked with the resort to assess the climate impact of the companies entire operation. As a member of SSI’s Blue Oceans initiative, they also follow the Blue Oceans Responsible Diver Code by providing eco-friendly soap and shampoo, selling reef-safe sunscreen, discontinuing the use of single-use plastics and regularly organising beach and reef clean-ups.
