About Onong Resort
NB - Onong Resort is not accepting bookings after 31 Oct, 2024. Located on the idyllic island of Siladen, Onong is the more relaxed partner resort of the neighbouring boutique Kuda Laut, also operated in partnership with Celebes Divers. The island is the smallest in the Bunaken National Park, and with no cars and roads, life is enjoyed at a slower, more relaxed pace. The resort itself lies on a beautiful sandy beach, surrounded by lush tropical rainforest, and boasting fantastic views of North Sulawesi as well as one of Bunaken’s best reefs just offshore. Swim, snorkel, and dive your days away on the house reef, or take the adventure further with SSI courses and day trips to the region’s very best dive sites. Back on land, you’ll find world-class facilities for divers, scuba students, and underwater photographers.
Celebes Divers take pride in providing sustainable dive holidays and, as of 2019, are a certified climate-neutral company. Onong Resort is committed to responsible tourism, working closely with the local community and carefully considering the impacts of their operations, from diving and tours to meals, and more. Combining stress-free concierge diving, relaxing spa services and gourmet meals, as well as perfectly appointed and stylish guest rooms and lounge areas, Onong provides a genuine taste of barefoot luxury - all while keeping their impact to a minimum.
Explore the resort
Onong’s on-site restaurant serves sumptuous buffet-style breakfast spreads to help dedicated divers fuel up for the day. Then, for lunch and dinner, guests can choose from the daily a la carte menu featuring an exotic blend of Western and local flavours with a focus on tropical produce and fresh sustainably sourced seafood. The resort bar is located just next door, steps from the sand, and is the perfect place to wind down after a long day in the sun. Get to know your fellow divers over a game of pool in the comfortable lounge area beside the bar. Or, just retire to your spacious and perfectly appointed room to rest and recharge for the next day’s adventures.
The resort spa provides a variety of services including massage, bodywork, and salon treatments, designed to soothe and refresh even the weariest of travellers. Land-based excursions to Tangkoko National Park, the Minahasa volcanoes, the Kali Waterfalls and Tatempangan Hill Viewpoint are also offered. Ocean lovers can opt for romantic sunset boat tours as well as dolphin, pilot whale and even whale shark-spotting trips. Self-guided snorkelling is possible at any time on the house reef, and day snorkelling trips to Bangka Island can also be arranged.
Diving from Onong Resort
Onong Resort’s partner dive centre, Celebes Divers, is equipped with a large drying room, individual storage booths for guests’ personal equipment and an air-conditioned camera room for storing and preparing photography gear. This resort’s house reef is one of the most accessible in Bunaken National Park, and guests are free to explore it anytime - snorkelling or on a guided dive. Regular night and sunset dives are also organised, highlighting the region’s rare macro species. You can expect valet-style diving at this resort, ensuring your gear is ready to go whenever you need it. Full equipment rental is also available, as well as nitrox for qualified divers.
Celebes Divers offers multiple trips each day, from their spacious and comfortable speedboats. You’ll find covered seating and a sundeck, camera rinse bins, toilets, and well-stocked refreshments stations on board - perfect for an all-day adventure at sea. Groups are kept to four divers per guide, offering plenty of one-on-one time with your expert local spotter. And, each outing includes a variety of sites to choose from, with thriving reefs, mucky macro slopes, and powerful currents to play in. A full range of SSI courses is also offered, as are special day trips to Lembeh, Nain Island and Manado Bay.

- Plan a dry day for relaxation with massage and bodywork at the resort’s day spa.
Celebes Divers works in partnership with Climatepartner – a renowned organisation which helps companies offset their carbon footprint. The dive operation and its partner resorts now support multiple offset projects, and as of summer 2019, Celebes Divers is a certified CO2-neutral company. As a member of SSI’s Blue Oceans initiative, they also follow the Blue Oceans Responsible Diver Code by providing eco-friendly soap and shampoo, selling reef-safe sunscreen, discontinuing the use of single-use plastics and regularly organising beach and reef clean-ups. All divers are briefed on the resort’s strict no gloves, no touch, no take policies before beginning their underwater adventures.
