About Scuba Republic Dive Safari
Scuba Republic’s dive safaris provide an enriching and budget-friendly alternative to liveaboard diving in Raja Ampat. Much like liveaboards, these unforgettable trips follow set itineraries and explore similar dive sites around the central region of Raja Ampat, including the Dampier Strait, Piaynemo, Fam, Waigeo, and more. But, instead of sleeping on a boat, guests will return to land each night to be accommodated in local homestays. Guests can choose from itineraries lasting between three and seven days.
Scuba Republic has explored most of Indonesia’s remotest areas since its creation over 20 years ago and now has bases in Komodo, Raja Ampat and South Sulawesi. Over the years, this operator has built a strong reputation for professionalism, experience and fun – all at great value for money. Now with a chain of dive operations, Scuba Republic offers a variety of unparalleled services, from liveaboards and charter yachts to rustic resorts, top-notch dive centres, and incredible land-based dive safaris.

Scuba Republic’s dive safaris mean guests will support the Papuan community by staying in local homestays. Scuba Republic selects the very best homestay locations based on changing factors such as weather and dive conditions. The homestays provide traditional huts with mattresses, mosquito nets, shared bathroom facilities, and a veranda with a spectacular view. Meals are served in the common area and usually include delicious fish, rice, vegetables, and fruit. Vegetarian options are available but sometimes limited.
Diving from Scuba Republic Dive Safari
As an experienced dive operator, Scuba Republic comes well-equipped with everything you need to have the best possible dive experience, including full dive gear and dive computers available for rent. Equipment such as BCDs, wetsuits and booties come in a variety of sizes, though prior confirmation is advised to ensure a comfortable fit. Tanks are aluminium 12l with both DIN and INT valves. However, there is a limited supply of DIN tanks and guests are therefore advised to bring an adapter if required. All diving is done from a boat which typically departs in the morning, in order to conduct two or three dives at some of the very best sites in Raja Ampat.
- A minimum of four guests are needed for Scuba Republic’s dive safaris to be confirmed.
- Pack plenty of extras like batteries and sunscreen – this is one of Indonesia's most remote regions where you won't find any shopping.
- These itineraries include various land-excursions, so be sure to pack comfortable shoes, lightweight clothing, and some extra sun protection.
