Vessel
Vessel information
This spacious phinisi offers a luxury year-round liveaboard service exploring the top dive destinations in the Indonesian Archipelago – including Raja Ampat, Triton Bay, Banda Sea, Ambon, Sulawesi, Halmahera, and more. Custom designed for scuba diving, Tambora offers uncompromising luxury and comfort while exploring both iconic and off-the-beaten-track dive sites in Indonesia. These cruises skip many of the “popular” sites, in favour of more secluded and uncrowded areas where the diving remains pristine. And, with voyages lasting nearly two weeks at sea, a trip aboard Tambora provides plenty of opportunity for exploration.
Inspired by the centuries-old design of the traditional Indonesian phinisi, Tambora was crafted from ironwood and teak by a team of expert boat builders. But, despite its classic charm, this liveaboard comes with plenty of contemporary upgrades to help dedicated divers make the most of their time in the region. To compliment each adventure, Tambora promises incredibly warm Indonesian hospitality, personalised customer service, and plenty of creature comforts, no matter how remote the route. And, with over 15 years of experience delivering high-quality liveaboard diving adventures, even the most discerning guests can feel confident when booking with Tambora.

Conservation
Tambora’s environmentally-friendly initiatives put it in a class of its own, taking a stand against pollution without compromising on service or style. This vessel’s propulsion system has been engineered for maximum fuel efficiency and to minimise the use of diesel - for dramatically reduced carbon emissions. The electrical system has also been designed end-to-end with a view towards maximum fuel efficiency, including marine and industrial power generators with different outputs, capacitor banks for smooth power, power saving lighting throughout the entire vessel, thermal insulation of all decks and ceilings, and the use of white reflecting paint on the outer hull above the waterline. These subtle efforts help to minimise electricity and fuel use, allowing guests to enjoy the epitome of comfort and luxury hand in hand with a significantly-reduced carbon footprint.
