If you're hoping to explore Indonesia's most stunning and remote regions, this is the boat for you. This traditional sailing phinisi’s seasonal itineraries are perfectly timed for exciting wildlife encounters and the best possible conditions underwater. The Seahorse was designed by divers, for divers, with plenty of room for equipment and electronics. Plus, spacious common areas, a light and airy salon and dining room, luxurious cabins and amenities, and accommodating customer service make it easy to relax in between dives.
Wallacea Dive Cruises have been exploring Indonesia's best diving since 2002, visiting destinations like Raja Ampat and Komodo as well as secluded, off-the-beaten-track gems like Halmahera and Borneo’s Derawan Archipelago. Onboard Seahorse
Built in 2005, this luxury Indonesian phinisi was entirely renovated in 2018. The MSY Seahorse can accommodate up to 16 guests in total comfort, with spacious double and twin cabins, each equipped with all the comforts of a boutique hotel. A delicious fusion of Asian and Western cuisine is served in the air-conditioned lounge and dining area which comes equipped with a marine ID and lending library, and a modern entertainment station. The top deck features plenty of comfortable sofa-style seating in the sun or shade providing the ideal space for relaxation between dives.
Diving from Seahorse
This boat's large shaded dive deck provides plenty of room for each guest and their gear, and diving is conducted from two spacious custom-built aluminium tenders. Equipment rental is available onboard, including computers and torches, and nitrox is free for qualified divers. Three to four dives are offered every day and groups are kept small, with one dive guide for every four guests. Photographers are well catered to onboard the MSY Seahorse, with a dedicated camera room for maintenance and preparation as well as separate camera rinse tanks. Watersports equipment is available in between dives as well, with snorkelling gear, paddleboards, and water skiing on offer.
Top tips
- Diving here is best enjoyed by experienced guests - strong currents and unpredictable conditions are a part of the fun!
- Pack plenty of extras like batteries and sunscreen, as shopping is non-existant in these remote regions.
