Vessel information
Bajak – meaning “pirate” in Javanese – is an unique liveaboard that was renovated as recently as 2023. The vessel is crafted from reclaimed ironwood and teak which was salvaged from decommissioned boats, giving Bajak an interesting patchwork aesthetic throughout the interior and plenty of rustic charm. At 28-metres in length, this vessel is plenty big enough to carry up to 14 guests in absolute comfort. During voyages, guests are accommodated in one spacious, ensuite master cabin and three dormitory cabins with shared bathrooms. Bajak also comes equipped with solar panels, providing environmentally-friendly and noise-free energy whilst moored.
Bajak liveaboard is owned and operated by Scuba Republic, a team that has explored most of Indonesia’s remotest areas since its creation over 20 years ago. Now with a chain of dive operations, Scuba Republic offers unique yet affordable services and high levels of professionalism, experience and fun – all at great value for money. With some of the most comfortable liveaboards in Indonesia, and covering the entire eastern archipelago, Scuba Republic can cater to all divers. This particular vessel offers both open cabin cruises and full charter voyages, specialising in quick trips within the world-famous Komodo National Park which typically last just two or three nights.
Onboard Bajak
Bajak’s gorgeous wooden dining table is set right in the open galley – like an exclusive chef’s table – allowing guests to watch the kitchen staff at work. A total of three meals are served each day, along with additional snacks in between. An adjoining lounge and dive briefing area can be found at the stern, complete with comfortable mattresses and breezy ocean views. On the upper level, guests will find a semi-shaded sundeck equipped with beanbags and a coffee table, creating the perfect space for enjoying the scenery or soaking up some rays between dives.
Diving from Bajak
Bajak liveaboard’s comfortable dive deck is located towards the bow and can easily accommodate all divers at once. The vessel’s compressor is situated at the stern, helping keep noise levels to a minimum. Itineraries typically offer up to three dives per day and scuba gear is available for guests to rent whilst on board. An accompanying five-metre tender is on hand to facilitate excursions and Bajak also comes equipped with two stand-up paddleboards for guest use.
