Vessel information
Location
Red Sea Aggressor V operates from Port Hamata in Egypt’s far south, placing guests within reach of dive areas that remain beyond the practical range of most day boats and other liveaboards. Seven-night voyages run from Saturday to Saturday and alternate between the Rocky and Zabargad Islands route and the more southerly Elba Reef itinerary.
Rocky and Zabargad lie offshore Egypt’s southern marine parks, where exposed walls and reef plateaus meet sheltered bays, wrecks and coral gardens. Elba Reef lies farther towards Egypt’s border with Sudan, a vast and little-visited region of coral plateaus, channels and isolated reefs. The routes can be combined on consecutive weeks for divers wanting to explore both areas.
Liveaboard facilities
Measuring 40m in length, Red Sea Aggressor V is a substantial five-deck steel liveaboard yacht built to carry up to 26 guests. Its size means there is plenty of room to spread out between dives, while the different communal spaces ensure everyone has space for relaxation.
Inside, the air-conditioned salon forms the main social hub, with comfortable seating, entertainment facilities and a bar. Outdoors, shaded seating and open sun decks invite guests to relax in the sea breeze, while the upper deck adds loungers, a second bar and a hot tub for soaking tired muscles after a day underwater. Evening entertainment can include marine-life presentations, films, games and shared footage from the day’s diving. A small library and onboard boutique are also available.
Cabins
The vessel’s 13 cabins are located on the lower, main and upper decks. All are individually air-conditioned and include a private bathroom with shower, television and media player, mini-fridge, safety deposit box, hairdryer and storage for essential belongings.
Four Master Staterooms feature queen beds, with two on the lower deck and two on the main deck. Deluxe Staterooms are configured with two twin beds. Cabins five to eight are located on the main deck, while cabins nine to thirteen are on the upper deck.
Dining
Meals combine tempting Mediterranean and Egyptian flavours with familiar Western dishes, creating a varied menu that suits active days on the water. Breakfast is prepared to order, lunch is typically served buffet-style, and dinner is a seated meal with table service. Mid-morning and afternoon snacks are also provided to keep energy levels up between dives.
Menus commonly include fresh fruit, soups, salads, homemade breads, seafood, chicken, beef and freshly prepared desserts. Fruit juice, soft drinks, tea, coffee and a limited selection of local beer and wine are included. Any dietary requirements should be submitted before travel and discussed with the chef after boarding.
Diving & itineraries
Diving at Red Sea Aggressor V
Red Sea Aggressor V is designed around making the most of every day underwater, with each diver assigned an individual preparation station and storage space on the dive deck. A typical seven-night voyage offers around 20–22 dives, with up to five dives possible on some days depending on the route and conditions. Entries are made either from the spacious stern platform or from two 7.5m tenders, opening up isolated reefs, current-swept walls and sites that would otherwise be difficult to reach.
Standard 12-litre aluminium cylinders are supplied, with larger 15-litre tanks available to rent. Nitrox blends of 32% are also available to certified divers for an additional charge. Rental equipment includes BCDs, regulators, computers, masks, fins, dive lights, surface marker buoys, exposure suits and Nautilus rescue radios. The vessel also has a large camera table, an outdoor charging station and photography coaching, making it well suited to guests travelling with underwater imaging equipment.
Diving in Egypt
Egypt’s southern Red Sea feels markedly different from the busy dive centres farther north. Beginning around 100 kilometres south of Marsa Alam, its reefs and islands extend towards the Sudanese border, encompassing the likes of Fury Shoal, St John’s, Zabargad, and Rocky Island. Much of the region can only be explored properly by liveaboard, rewarding divers with vibrant coral, blue-water walls, shallow caves, wrecks and strong currents with large schools of fish.
Zabargad’s bays shelter turtles, rays, octopus and abundant reef life, while its outer walls can attract sharks and other pelagics. Nearby Rocky Island rises from deep water and is known for current-swept drop-offs, schooling fish and passing predators. St John’s adds intricate tunnel systems and some of Egypt’s healthiest reefs. Conditions are suitable for diving throughout the year, although March to May and September to November often bring a favourable balance of water temperature and weather. Advanced certification and around 50 logged dives are recommended for making the most of the stronger currents and exposed sites.
