Conservation
Conservation
To support the local sea turtle population’s future, new hatchlings are cared for at the resort through its rearing programme, where staff protect their nests and release the babies back into the sea. However, some require extra care and are reared in the resort’s specialised pools for up to 18 months. While in the care of the resort team, the turtles are monitored, kept clean, weighed and measured on a weekly basis. And, to improve the local turtle population’s chances of survival, the resort’s Corporate Social Responsibility Department partnered with students at the nearby school to host an educational programme raising awareness of their conservation.
