About Sumisid Lodge
Sumisid Lodge – which means ‘dive’ in the local Tagalog language – is located in the centre of Panagsama Beach with plenty of shops, restaurants and, of course, the stunning white sand beach just steps away. As one of the first dive lodges in the area, this well-established guesthouse has been extending a local welcome since 1981. Scuba dive, snorkel, and relax your days away in a warm, social atmosphere. After your day’s adventures are done, grab a sunset drink on the patio and sample delicious local cuisine. This resort offers a wide variety of accommodations, catering to all budgets and personal travel styles.
For those who take a more energetic approach to their holidays, there’s snorkelling and diving for all skill and comfort levels, with plenty of marine life to see just a few fin kicks from the shore. You’ll also have a chance to dive sprawling reefs and plunging walls, considered among the best in the Philippines. Adrenaline junkies can also take on jungle trekking, mountain biking, island hopping or even canyoneering – walking, climbing, abseiling, swimming and scrambling to the spectacular Kawasan falls. You’ll also have an opportunity to combine your stay with a visit to the resort’s partner property Oasis Resort for the ultimate Filipino diving experience.
Explore the resort
This small and friendly resort boasts a decidedly local feel, with colourful decor and indigenous details in the guest rooms, a friendly and smiling staff, and delicious Filipino cuisine served in the restaurant. Sumisid Lodge was built mainly from native bamboo in the classic island style, blending perfectly with its idyllic surroundings. At the heart of the resort is the restaurant which prides itself on its local specialities but also serves a variety of international dishes with a lovely beach view. The patio is also an excellent place to get to know your fellow guests, clink glasses after a long day of underwater adventures, or just take in a lovely tropical sunset.
One of the best parts of staying in Sumisid Lodge is its warm, welcoming atmosphere. You’ll enjoy a toes-in-the-sand ambience with no stuffy resort vibes, and just a handful of guests to share the experience with. Plus, little luxuries like complimentary WiFi, spa services, and daily laundry service - will help you stay fresh even during an extended visit. And, non-divers will find plenty to see and do here, with one of Moalboal’s best beaches just steps from the resort and plenty of shopping and nightlife nearby.
Diving from Sumisid Lodge
Seaquest is one of the longest-established diving operators in the area and takes great pride in their reputation for combining safety-conscious, professional service with a friendly, laid-back atmosphere. You’ll enjoy access to personal gear storage, top of the line equipment for rent, and a well-stocked retail centre. Diving here is conducted from traditional Filipino bangkas and speedboats, with groups split by skill and experience level. A wide variety of PADI courses are also offered, with comfortable classrooms and a patient and friendly international team of instructors.
The dive centre organises daily scuba diving excursions to some of the best reefs in the Philippines including sites around Pescador Island and the Tanon Strait. This incredibly biodiverse area is home to creatures great and small - with everything from megafauna to supermacro possible on each and every dive. Or, if you’d rather stay close to home, step right off the beach to swim and snorkel with Moalboal’s famous shoaling sardines. Seaquest can also organise snorkelling, island-hopping trips, and multi-day adventures combining your stay with diving at their other centres. Known as the SeaQuest Safari, this experience allows you to sleep on shore, but dive some of the region’s most exciting sites typically accessible by liveaboard only.
