Diving from Royal Hideaway Playacar

Diving at Royal Hideaway Playacar is overseen by Pro Dive International, a PADI 5-Star dive operator and career development centre. Founded in 2003, Pro Dive International is renowned for its high standards of excellence, quality, and safety. At Royal Hideaway Playacar, the dive centre is located on the resort’s private beach and is staffed by a qualified multilingual team and instructors. A full range of scuba certification courses can be undertaken here, catering to guests of all kinds – from young children wishing to take their first breaths underwater, to recreational divers looking to turn pro or seasoned adventurers seeking a new challenge such as cave diving.

This dive centre operates up to five local dives each day, including night dives. Two dive boats are on hand to ferry guests to a variety of sites, most of which lie within a short, 15-minute trip from the beach. Extended excursions can also be organised, travelling up and down the coast to experience the likes of Playa del Carmen’s bull sharks, Yucatan’s famous cenotes, Cozumel Reefs National Marine Park, and more. Rental gear is available on site, comprising 40 individual sets produced by top-quality brands such as ScubaPro and Cressi. Additional cave diving equipment can also be rented and nitrox is free for certified guests.

Conservation

Royal Hideaway Playacar has a longstanding commitment to the environment and supports the reduction and correct sorting of waste using authorised containers, as well as encouraging suppliers to purchase reusable items. It has also implemented a “clean up after yourself” programme and weekly beach and communal area cleaning brigades. The resort also preserves and manages green areas to protect local flora and fauna. Moderate use of natural resources is promoted by the resort, which delivers an environmental education programme for staff and third parties, as well as encouraging the re-use of towels in rooms to save water and energy. Royal Hideaway Playacar also encourages internal promotion and opportunities for local employment, prohibiting any kind of discrimination according to gender, race or age.
