Buena Vida Resort and Spa is located on the beautiful island of Malapascua in the Northern part of Cebu. The property is setback around 100-metres from the bustling Bounty Beach, integrated into a tranquil tropical garden, guaranteeing maximum seclusion whilst still lying within easy reach of the ocean. Whilst staying at Buena Vida, guests will also enjoy full access to its sibling resort, Ocean Vida, situated in the heart of Bounty Beach – delivering beachfront relaxation whenever desired.
Buena Vida is partnered with Sea Explorers dive centre, giving guests access to one of the leading dive teams in the Philippines, with decades of experience diving around the island. This well-established operator guarantees high-quality facilities for students and experienced divers alike, as well as an expert dive crew of skilled local spotters and international PADI instructors, and a fun, welcoming atmosphere.
Guests at Buena Vida are accommodated in a choice of eight garden rooms situated in a two-story building or several family rooms located opposite. All rooms aim to create a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere through outstanding contemporary design. The natural palette and boutique style blends beautifully with the resort’s surroundings yet remains highly functional and able to fit a variety of preferences.

Buena Vida’s sibling resort, Ocean Vida, features an onsite restaurant serving an exotic blend of local specialities, European classics, and wellness-inspired dishes. Guests can choose to dine overlooking the beach or on the sand under the palm trees. The resort’s beach bar is open all day serving fresh fruit shakes, cocktails, beer, imported wine, and soft drinks - while beanbags on the sand provide the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset. Next to the bar, you’ll find the Vida Cafe, serving homemade cakes, sweets, ice cream, and delicious freshly brewed coffee.

The diving at Buena Vida is managed by its partner PADI 5-Star resort, Sea Explorers. This well-established team has over 30 years of experience diving the Philippines and takes pride in giving each guest an incredible dive holiday experience. Scuba students can take a full range of scuba courses here, conducted by patient and professional instructors in two air-conditioned classrooms. The resort also boasts two bangka boats, perfectly maintained rental gear from Mares and SCUBAPRO, facilities for personal equipment, and nitrox 32% for qualified guests. Up to four dives are offered each day, with small groups divided by skill and comfort level.
Malapascua found fame for its regular sightings of thresher sharks, and Sea Explorers offers daily sunrise dives with a good chance of spotting these elusive creatures. All-day adventures at Gato Island are also available, with fascinating macro wildlife, caverns, caves and swim-throughs, as well as sharks. If you’d rather keep the adventure close to home, you won’t be disappointed.
