About

About Bliss Dhigurah

Bliss is a boutique hotel located on South Ari’s southern reef, on the wonderful island of Dhigurah - one of the most beautiful islands in the Maldives and South Ari’s most popular island for tourism. This local island is well-known for its beautiful woods, extensive sandbank, and for year-round encounters with whale sharks - creating the full paradise island package. With such an impressive natural playground at its doorstep, and a surprising array of onsite recreational facilities, Bliss Dhigurah is able to deliver the same Maldives experience as many resort islands, at a fraction of the price.

Bliss Dhigurah believes in providing an unforgettable and authentic experience with a focus on personal service. The hotel balances the authentic experiences offered by its local island location with the indulgent amenities expected from a Maldivian getaway - including watersports galore, a free-to-use gym, and a delicious rooftop mocktail bar. Bliss Dhigurah’s exceptional location also means whale shark and manta ray encounters, secluded sandbanks, and a bikini beach are all within easy reach of the hotel. And, if you want to take the adventure below the waves, Bliss Dhigurah’s partnership with Island Divers guarantees exciting diving at some of South Ari’s very best sites.

Explore the resort

Bliss Dhigurah’s onsite restaurant strives to use local products whenever possible, with an emphasis on coconut, breadfruit, screw pine, chilli, and of course, seafood. The menu strikes a balance between local dishes for culinary adventures and comfort food to get you ready for your next adventure. On the rooftop terrace, you’ll find Bliss Dhigurah’s juice bar, serving delicious smoothies, mocktails, and sodas made from local fruits and vegetables. The rooftop terrace also offers comfortable couches or bean bags to while away the hours overlooking the panoramic view, as well as Jacuzzis for a relaxing soak in the sun or beneath the stars.

Guests at Bliss Dhigurah are spoilt for choice when it comes to daily activities and adventures. From snorkelling with manta rays and whale sharks to romantic dinners on the beach, fishing excursions, and cooking classes - if you can imagine it, the team at Bliss Dhigurah can organise it for you. Make the most of this hotel’s wide range of watersports equipment, including stand-up paddleboards and canoes, as well as jet skis, fun tubes, banana boats, wakeboards, and more. You’ll also have access to a bikini beach beside the hotel, a large collection of movies for evening entertainment, and a free gym.

Diving from Bliss Dhigurah

Bliss Dhigurah operates in partnership with Island Divers Maldives, allowing guests to explore South Ari’s iconic underwater world. Island Divers has invested in quality, modern rental gear and their dive boat is well-equipped for a full day of diving, featuring a rooftop tanning deck for surface intervals. Guests can hop on the boat every day, with the option to participate in one, two, or even three dives. And, if you’re looking to get scuba certified, Island Divers deliver a range of dive courses, ranging from beginner to Divemaster.

The dive centre’s licensed PADI instructors and dive guides are ready to whisk divers away to some of South Ari’s best dive sites, including a series of thilas located between Dhigurah and the next island - the most famous of which, Kudarah Thila, lies just ten minutes away. South Ari atoll is the only atoll in the Maldives where whale sharks are spotted throughout the year, and is renowned among travellers for delivering unbeatable sightings of these incredible creatures. Incredibly, over 400 individual whale sharks have been identified from the area, meaning your chances of an encounter are almost guaranteed.

Top tips

  • Rent a bicycle to get around Dhigurah, to the dive centre or into the woods.
  • Out of respect, swimwear is only allowed on the ‘bikini beach’ beside the hotel.
  • Keep in mind that pork and alcoholic drinks cannot be consumed on local islands.
