Guests can also arrange to visit any combination of these stunning properties during their stay, with seamless transfers and transportation arranged by the resort. Bastianos Bangka is a newly opened resort located on Busabora Beach at the southwestern end of the Island. You’ll also have access to outstanding rental equipment and private gear facilities, a fully-equipped camera room, expertly conducted PADI courses and concierge service. Explore the resort
Bastiano Bangka’s oceanside restaurant offers a delicious blend of local and international dishes, served alongside stunning panoramic views of the sea. Guests can also enjoy evening barbecues, breezy breakfasts on their private terrace, and romantic dinners on the island’s jetty. Sip a cooling cocktail, soft drink, or fresh fruit juice at the poolside bar, perfect for a relaxing afternoon in the sun or shade. This is also a great place to relax and get to know your fellow divers after dinner, with a relaxed social atmosphere and plenty of room to chill out while editing or uploading the day’s best underwater photography.
The resort’s house reef is easy to access directly from the jetty and provides plenty of excitement for swimmers, snorkelers, and divers alike. Head out on a self-guided adventure exploring delicate soft coral gardens, gently sloping sand and rubble, and vast seagrass beds. Kayak rental is available for guests who prefer to explore the island from above the waves. Guests in need of rest and relaxation can also indulge in one of the lush treatments offered by the on-site spa. Escape the stresses of day to day life with carefully selected, traditional and natural therapies including massage, facials and reflexology.
Diving from Bastianos Bangka
Bastianos Bangka’s PADI dive centre offers a variety of courses and guided diving experiences throughout North Sulawesi. Guests here enjoy easy access to comfortable classrooms, personal gear storage, perfectly maintained rental equipment and a modern air-conditioned camera room with drying and charging stations and workbenches. Private guiding, nitrox, and 15-litre tanks are also available on request. Three boat dives are offered each day, and surface intervals take place at sea with snacks and drinks on offer. Guided and unguided adventures on the house reef are also available daily, with easy access directly from the jetty.
If you’ve never heard of Bangka, don’t worry. You aren’t alone. Lying at the far northern tip of Sulawesi, this island and neighbouring Gangga are still well off the typical tourist’s radar. For guests, this means pristine and uncrowded sites teeming with fascinating wildlife in all shapes and sizes. Or, head slightly further afield to discover current-swept underwater pinnacles and cleaning stations, colourful sea fan and sponge gardens clouded by schools of tropical fish, and unique habitats like seagrass beds and sandy bays. Bangka is also known for its fascinating wildlife, with cool macro critters on nearly every dive, and surprising species like dolphins and dugongs making rare appearances.
- Combine your stay with trips to the other Bastianos resorts in Lembeh and Manado for a once-in-a-lifetime Indonesian diving holiday.
- Sulawesi is famous for muck and macro, but the reefs around Bangka are noticeably different, with more fringing hard and soft coral, and less rubble.
- Pack plenty of cash and all the essentials from home - you’ll be travelling in a remote region where shops and banks are scarce!
- Plan a day trip to nearby Tangkoko National Park for rainforest trekking with rare species like macaques and tarsiers.
