Built in 1989 and recently refurbished, the 33m Atlantis Azores is a stylish liveaboard exploring the best of the Philippines, including Tubbataha, Bohol, Cebu, Malapascua, Anilao, Apo Reef and Coron’s wrecks. Superb dive facilities including a spacious dive deck, two tenders and nitrox make this comfortable boat a great choice for exploring the Philippines with ease. It’s also ideal for photographers thanks to its outstanding camera facilities. And, with a cosy saloon, air-conditioned cabins, lovely sun deck complete with Jacuzzi, you’ll have multiple spaces to relax between dives. Throw in memorable land excursions, a friendly team, and unlimited local beers, wines and spirits, and your Philippines holiday is complete.
Atlantis Azores is part of the Atlantis Dive Resorts and Liveaboards company - known for their top-class dive resorts and liveaboard trips. Azores moves between four destinations depending on the time of year. January through to mid-March is Apo Reef and Wrecks of Coron, and from mid-March to early June, it heads to Tubbataha. From June to December, Azores explores the best of the Visayas with two itineraries - Bohol, and Cebu to Malapascua. The majority of these incredible trips embark from two of Atlantis’s dive resorts in the Philippines, which have earned an outstanding reputation in the diving community.
Onboard Atlantis Azores
Atlantis Azores accommodates up to 16 guests in seven air-conditioned cabins. On the upper deck, an air-conditioned saloon fitted with a TV and entertainment system combines with the open-plan dining area, where western and local meals are served buffet style and a la carte by the chef. The snack and drinks bar is open all day, where all drinks, wines and local rum are complimentary. And, guests can also bring their own drinks without a corkage fee. Also on the upper deck is the computer workstation complete with photo-editing facilities. The best part is the partially shaded sun deck boasting a well-stocked bar and hot tub - guests’ favourite spot!
Diving from Atlantis Azores
Four to five dives a day are on offer, and are made easy by the boat’s dive facilities, that includes a spacious dive deck and two tenders. The platform also boasts a three-tier camera setup table with charging stations, camera rinse tanks, personal storage areas and hot water showers. Nitrox and re-breather facilities are also available to certified divers at an additional cost, and rental gear is on offer on the Bohol and Cebu-Malapascua charters. Plus, between diving, dining and relaxing, guests can also enjoy land excursions on every itinerary.
Top tips
- For a little extra luxury, book the boat’s suite upper deck suite featuring large windows, and extensive storage space.
- Dive equipment can only be rented on the Bohol and Cebu-Malapascua charters. Rebreather facilities are also available, so be sure to enquire well in advance should you be interested.
- For the perfect combination of wrecks and reefs, opt for the Coron and Apo Reef itinerary from January until early March.
- The Tubbataha diving season runs from mid-March through early June. On this route, you can explore this stunning UNESCO World Heritage site’s colourful reefs in search of passing whale sharks.
- Choose the Visayas Safari from June to December to take in multiple islands in one week. On this route, you can explore Dauin’s prolific muck diving spots, and encounter thresher sharks at Malapascua Island.
