About Angaga Island Resort

Angaga Island Resort is located in the heart of South Ari Atoll, and boats white sandy beaches which wrap around the island, as well as a magnificent house reef just a few metres beyond. Situated some 85-kilometres from Male’s international airport, Angaga can be reached with a short 25 minute seaplane journey, or a 20 minute domestic flight to Maamigili followed by a 25-minute speedboat ride to the resort. Once on the island, guests will settle into their chosen accommodation, with the option of a detached Maldivian thatched beach bungalow or an iconic overwater villa perched above the Indian Ocean.

The island offers guests the ultimate blend of barefoot luxury and adventurous exploration, delivering the perfect island holiday experience with facilities fit for couples and families alike. Angaga Island Resort has its own sports and recreation facilities of all kinds, including a spa, fitness centre, and one of the Maldives’ best house reefs open for unguided exploration. Angaga’s Dolphin Restaurant caters to all tastes with a delectable array of International and traditional Maldivian cuisines. A wide choice of culinary creations are served buffet-style and paired with a mesmerising view of the beach. The adjoining Beach Bar offers special a la carte dishes prepared by a skilled chef, alongside tea, coffee and soft drinks, as well as a wide range of spirits, cocktails and fine wines. Board and card games are also available, along with live music once a week. At Sundown Bar, guests can sample some of Angaga’s signature cocktails and mocktails crafted by skilled mixologists, all set to chilled beats and the golden glow of sunset.

This resort’s onsite Duny Thai Spa offers a range of traditional massage, reflexology, and beauty treatments to ensure guests return home refreshed and energised. For guests who like to stay active on holiday, Angaga has a fitness centre, as well as badminton, football, and beach volleyball. An outdoor grass tennis court is also available for an additional cost, while a 24-hour indoor games centre offers darts, table tennis, and table football. Watersports such as catamaran sailing, canoeing, paddleboarding, water skiing, and windsurfing are readily available, as well as snorkelling excursions with manta rays and whale sharks. 

Diving from Angaga Island Resort

Located beside one of the water bungalow jetties, Angaga’s award-winning dive centre is run by the experienced SUB AQUA. One of the first dive centre operators in the Maldives, SUB AQUA has been providing high-quality, professional services to guests since its inception in 1972 and is staffed by German and English speaking instructors who are always happy to help. Full equipment rental is available from the dive centre, including computers and torches, as well as a digital underwater camera rental service. Nitrox fills are also free for suitably qualified guests. 

From Angaga Island Resort, guests can explore more than 30 fantastic dive sites, including well-known spots such as Angaga Thila and Kuda Rah Thila. Plus, the island is home to one of the top house reefs in the Maldives. Following an orientation dive, experienced buddy teams will have free rein of this house reef, with unlimited unguided shore dives. Other fantastic underwater experiences here include nighttime fluo-diving and incredible manta rays encounters during the manta season.
