Vessel information
Amalia is an impressive 29-metre wooden liveaboard operated by Uber Scuba Komodo – a well established and highly-reputable dive centre. The name Amalia means ‘industrious’ and derives from the element ‘amal’ meaning ‘work’. Staying true to its destiny, this beautiful vessel works hard to ensure the perfect cruising experience.
Up to 11 guests can be accommodated aboard Amalia in a choice of five cabins with double, twin, and family configurations. Small but perfectly formed with ample storage space, these cabins boast natural ventilation and a fresh nautical theme throughout. The two double cabins feature their own ensuite bathrooms, while bathroom facilities are shared by the twin and family cabins.
Trips aboard this vessel last between three and six-night, visiting the north or south of Komodo, depending on the season. Sturdily crafted from iron wood derived from Kalimantan, this ex-fishing vessel has been purposefully rebuilt for liveaboard diving out of Labuan Bajo. Guests can expect a full Komodo liveaboard experience aboard Amalia – consisting of scuba diving, dragon treks, and more – perfectly complemented by top quality service at affordable rates.
Onboard Amalia
Amalia’s onboard chef cooks up a storm in the open kitchen, adjusting ingredients according to guests’ dietary needs, and serving up delicious meals in the alfresco dining area. An alternative indoor dining area is located beside the kitchen, as well as a comfortable lounge equipped with a TV and refreshments area. Various games and books can also be found here, providing additional interest during quiet moments. Upstairs is a sun deck with large day beds which can be slept on at night should our guests enjoy the glitter of stars.
Diving from Amalia
Throughout the trip, guests can conduct around three or four dives a day in the world-famous Komodo National Park, with two accompanying tenders on hand to transfer guests to and from the best sites. And, to make the experience as stress-free as possible, this is one of the few vessels in the region providing full rental equipment free of charge. Uber Scuba appreciate that diving Komodo National Park can be tiring, and aim to include plenty of non-diving activities throughout each trip to keep guests energised. Options include dragon treks, beach barbecues, snorkelling, paddleboarding, and more.
