Diving from All Star Cat Ppalu
The variety of diving available in the Bahamas is amazing! There are beautiful reefs at all depths, awe-inspiring walls, swift drift dives, night dives, mysterious blue holes, and plentiful sharks. Cat Ppalu offers as many as 19 dives on each week-long voyage, including one shark feeding experience. Top of the line rental gear can be provided for guests without equipment, including torches and dive computers. A range of scuba certifications can also be arranged, including open water checkouts, and more advanced courses. The onboard instructor is also happy to take non-certified guests on an introductory dive. Cat Ppalu also offers occasional Citizen Scientist programs, giving recreational divers a hands-on opportunity to help with various reef enhancement projects.
- Fishing is possible directly from the boat, and any catch can be utilised in the menu. But bear in mind that you’ll spend a lot of time within a protected marine sanctuary where fishing is strictly prohibited.
- The most common sharks on these trips are nurse and Caribbean reef sharks.
Cat Ppalu offers occasional Citizen Scientist programmes that allow guests to help Marine Biologist Addie Benz with surveying coral reefs, translocating diadema sea urchins, and developing and expanding All Star Liveaboards’ coral nursery and coral transplant program. With these programmes, All Star Liveaboards’ hope to make a positive impact on the struggling reefs and educate guests on the issues currently faced in the Bahamas. The team hope their data will be used in the future by Bahamian government affiliates to better protect these ecosystems.
