Day 1:
Embark on a solitude one from Solitude Acacia Resort, Anilao, between 1 pm and 5 pm.
Day 2: Verde Island
Stunning reefs and strong currents are a feature of this island. Especially for sites such as ‘The Pinnacle,’ depending on the tide/current, one can experience strong up/down currents, so it is generally dived zigzagging upwards; spectacular and healthy reefs and rich biodiversity, as well as larger creatures sometimes passing in the blue, can be found here. ‘The Washing Machine,’ this site, is a series of interlocking canyons to dive in between, where some of the channels meet and currents collide; it creates that washing machine effect. A very exhilarating dive is generally better for the more experienced divers. However, diving on slack tide is suitable for everyone with a beautiful reef and fish; one can ease through the canyons calmly.
Days 3, 4 & 5:
Romblon itself is rather versatile in its dive sites; most notably, it is known for the macro, for the nudibranch lovers, it's a top place to find Melibe and Cyerce sp., but there are some reef walls and also a blue hole dive around. Primarily we would focus on the muck/macro sites, as we will have exceptional reefs on the latter part of the trip. Dive sites that seem most promising are 'Palje,' with its fine sediment, a great spot to search for Severnsi and Pontohi pygmy seahorses. ‘Lunas,’ isvery muddy sediment but good spots for finding Wunderpus, Mimic and Blue-ring Octopus, Bobbit wormsand so on. 'St. Joseph’ is a coral cliff/drop-off with a sandy bottom; here is one of the best sites to find a multitude of nudibranchs as well as some rare crustaceans.
Days 6, 7 & 8:
After Romblon, we will head over to the islands north of Ticao and dive a couple of the stunning reef walls, which are packed with a variety of nudibranchs and crustaceans. Following, we will move to the east of Ticao and dive 'Manta Bowl,' where we hope to see Manta Rays and potentially Whale Sharks. According to LAMAVE, 250 of the 400 individual Mantas spotted in the Philippines have been recorded at this dive site. Our last destination nation in Ticao will be in the South, where we will dive around the lush mangroves and ‘Snake Island,' which is teeming with a variety of life due to the nutrient-rich waters.
Days 9 & 10: Malapascua
The next location is Malapascua, one of the few places where Thresher Sharks are regularly seen—being on a liveaboard, we can be there before any of the land-based centers! Besides the Threshers, there are plenty of great dive spots around, such as Gato Island and Kalanggaman and its picturesque sandbar.
Day 11: Cebu City
Arrive in Cebu City, where our voyage will end for now. Departing from Solitude One between 8 am and 11 am.
