Red Sea Explorer Itinerary

North and Tiran

Day 1:
Upon arrival at Hurghada Airport, guests are welcomed by our friendly staff and taken to the port. Boarding begins around 3:00 PM. You will be greeted by our cruise director and the crew, stow your scuba gear and luggage, and familiarise yourself with the ship. In addition, you will receive a boat briefing.

Days 2-6:

SS Thistlegorm:
One of the most famous and popular wrecks in the Red Sea is undoubtedly the SS Thistlegorm. Rediscovered by Jacques Cousteau in 1956, the wreck offers unique dives with diverse marine life and spectacular cargo holds containing relics from World War II. Among other things, divers can discover trucks and motorcycles. Also worth seeing are the stern with its machine guns and the locomotive on the seabed next to the wreck. Keep your hands off any unexploded ordnance!

 

Abu Nuhas:
The Abu Nuhas ship graveyard in the Strait of Gubal contains four wrecks lying at moderate depths. The Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K, and Kimon M are richly covered with colourful corals, forming artificial reefs for numerous fish, shrimp, octopuses, and moray eels. Interesting dives are guaranteed here, as each wreck is unique.

 

Strait of Tiran:
The popular reefs of the Strait of Tiran—Jackson, Woodhouse, Thomas, and Gordon Reefs—promise diverse dives. Jackson Reef teems with life, teeming with turtles, anthias, groupers, and numerous fusiliers. A wonderful growth of soft corals enchants every diver. With a bit of luck, hammerhead sharks can be spotted on the outer reef or at Gordon Reef. Woodhouse and Gordon Reefs impress with their steep walls, the famous Thomas Canyon, and beautiful gorgonians.

 

Ras Mohamed (Shark & ​​Yolanda):
This dive site is located at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula and promises a variety of highlights for divers. The bottomless drop-off at Shark Reef is beautifully covered with colourful soft corals. Especially during the summer months, it teems with fish. Schools of groupers, mackerel, and batfish frolic in the deep blue at the reef edge. With a bit of luck, you might also spot grey reef sharks and barracudas. Yolanda Reef is named after the cargo ship that sank here. The ship itself slid to great depths, and its cargo still lies scattered among the colourful corals on the reef: toilets, bathtubs, and even a car are among the attractions. Turtles, scorpionfish, and crocodilefish are also frequently seen here.

Day 7:
The ship is back on the penultimate day of the safari around noon. The last night is spent on board; the ship is anchored at the pier. So you can go ashore, stroll or enjoy a drink in one of the surrounding bars.

Day 8:
Check-out is around 9:00 AM on the last day, followed by transport to the airport.
