The 32-metre Shakti is a charter-only Indonesian phinisi crafted by master shipbuilders in Sulawesi. Refurbished in 2016, Shakti combines modern facilities with old-world beauty, and is a masterpiece of traditional Bugis-Makassar design. Having extensively explored Raja Ampat for almost two decades, Shakti’s team can offer unique and specialised itineraries based entirely on guests’ prefered activities. The team’s unparalleled knowledge of the area, including its culture, people, mystical stories and marine life, makes Shakti a favourite among discerning travellers. In fact, even television crews - such as the BBC’s Planet Earth team - regularly use this vessel as a base for producing nature documentaries.
When it comes to exploring Raja Ampat’s underwater world, diving is as easy as it is exhilarating aboard Shakti. Guests can also enjoy some of the world’s most beautiful scenery and enriching culture - from bird and whale watching to trekking through rainforests, visiting secluded beaches and local villages. And with onboard luxuries including cosy solid wood cabins, an air-conditioned saloon, delicious dining, and a lovely sun deck, this vessel provides plenty of comfort alongside the adventure.
The vessel’s main common area is the air-conditioned saloon, outfitted with a TV and entertainment system, as well as a laptop. Meals are also served here, starting with a delicious daily continental breakfast. Keep your energy up with freshly baked bread and your choice of eggs, followed by lunch and dinner, which artfully blend Indonesian and international cuisine, freshly prepared with local ingredients. Fruits, snacks, cookies, and nuts are served between meals, and post-dive drinks are available at the sun deck’s spacious bar. This is a perfect place to relax and work on your tan, or just take a nap in between adventures.
Diving and activities
Each day, the highly experienced team of guides offers three daytime dives plus a night dive - weather and conditions permitting. The large dive deck boasts ample space for gear and kitting up, as well as individual equipment storage areas, a camera preparation table and rinse tanks for electronics. Two tenders ferry guests to and from dive sites, ensuring the main vessel is undisturbed by diving activities. An indoor camera room complete with personal power points and workstations makes it easy to care for sensitive gear of all kinds.
