MV Mistral joined the award-winning Tornado Marine Fleet in 2010 and now offers five star liveaboard diving in the Red Sea with her experienced crew. With a state-of-the-art design based on luxury, comfort and ease of diving, the 34 metre steel-hulled vessel accommodates up to 22 guests in 11 stylish cabins. Add her modern air conditioned saloon, carefully designed outdoor decks and stunning sundeck and jacuzzi to the mix, and you’ve got serene lounging spaces perfect for post-dive relaxation. Divers will also love the large dive deck with its superb facilities, which include rinse tanks, on-deck showers, tec diving facilities and a designated camera room. The Tornado Marine Fleet has been a top choice for divers seeking luxury liveaboards in the Red Sea since 1989. All of the well-equipped, modern and luxurious dive vessels operate recreational and tec diving liveaboard trips with a team of carefully-selected expert crew and dive instructors who offer a full range of courses. Departing from Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada and Port Ghaleb, divers have exciting itineraries to choose from across the northern and southern Red Sea that are based on required skill level. Divers can explore the iconic reefs and wrecks of the Red Sea, where diverse marine species of all sizes and colours thrive at world-famous sites such as the Brothers Islands, Elphinstone and the Thistlegorm wreck. Escorted trips and special weeks including photography, wreck, tec, freediving and mini safaris are also available, as well as private charters.
Onboard Mistral
The Mistral was designed for comfort, convenience and luxury, and with divers’ requirements in mind. She boasts 11 air conditioned twin and double en-suite cabins located on the upper and lower decks that accommodate up to 22 guests. Situated on the main deck, the restaurant boasts bright, modern decor and a warm, welcoming atmosphere designed for socialising while dining on a delicious international and Egyptian buffet prepared by seasoned chefs. The separate air conditioned saloon is equipped with comfortable seating and a large plasma TV and entertainment centre - perfect for viewing the day’s diving footage or a movie. The shaded sun deck is a great spot to relax outdoors, with sun loungers, cushioned seating and a heated jacuzzi.
Diving from Mistral
Designed by divers, for divers, this modern vessel offers everything a diver could need, including a large dive deck, individual stations to gear up, plenty of storage, on-deck showers and rinse tanks for cameras and gear. There’s also a state-of-the-art camera room, making the Mistral an ideal choice for underwater photographers. The vessel is also fully tech-friendly, offering high pressure gas blending facilities with prior notice, as well as extra space for twin sets and rebreathers. Up to four dives per day are offered, and full rental equipment and nitrox are available on board. For convenience, guests are transferred to and from dive sites by two 5.8 metre accompanying zodiacs. And with the dive team’s expert knowledge of the Red Sea and superb service, divers are guaranteed an exhilarating experience to the region’s world-famous dive sites, including one of the planet’s most famous wrecks - the Thistlegorm!
Top tips
- March to May and September to November are considered to be the best times to dive in the Red Sea due to ideal weather and ocean conditions. But be aware that dive sites will be more crowded during these months.
