Located in the heart of Bunaken National Park, Froggies Bunaken has access to over 30 individual dive sites, amongst some of the most diverse ecosystems and best wall diving in Asia. With an à la carte approach towards diving packages, this intimate, modestly-sized PADI dive resort aims to provide maximum flexibility to guests. The culture of the Manadonese staff, with lots of music and singing, adds to the relaxed, family-like atmosphere of this resort.
The hillside setting of Froggies Bunaken allows guests to choose between beachfront and hilltop accommodation in the form of comfortable, welcoming bungalows. All accommodation options offer expansive views of the National Park and within easy walking distance of facilities. This dive resort prides itself on offering a friendly, safe and reliable atmosphere for divers of all levels.
Froggies’ 2 spacious Superior Bungalows are located at the top of a small hill and include a bedroom, living area and large Bali style bathroom equipped with a western toilet and hot water shower. A wide veranda offers picturesque sea views and an extra seating area, making these rooms perfect for a couple or two friends. Both bungalows are fitted with air-con, fan, mosquito net, table and safety deposit box.
8 Standard bungalows are spread out around the resort, allowing guests to choose their prefered location. 4 recently built bungalows are situated at the top of the hill, with 3 slightly smaller options by the beach, and 1 larger alternative in the middle. Each bungalow incorporates a Bali-style bathroom with western toilet and hot water shower, a corner settee and a veranda with sea views and seating. For additional comfort, rooms are equipped with air-con, fan, mosquito net and safety deposit box.
Froggies’ Budget Bungalows are located towards the bottom of the hill, near the water, and include a small Bali-style bathroom and a veranda with sea view and seating. A fan, mosquito net and safety deposit box are also provided. These bungalows are ideal for travellers on a tighter budget.
Located at the heart of the resort, the resort’s restaurant serves delicious meals inspired by Indonesian cuisine and prepared with fresh local ingredients. Equipped with beanbags and an impressive veranda overlooking the water, it is the perfect space to socialise with other guests and share a common passion for nature and diving. The cost of accommodation includes a breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner, as well as drinking water, coffee and tea. Snacks and other beverages are available at an additional cost. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated although prior notice is appreciated.
Free wifi is available at the resort, as well as free toiletries and a courtesy laundry service. A spa and wellness centre is located in the middle of the hill, just a short walk from the dive centre. A selection of land activities can be organised from the tour desk and snorkelling is possible from the dive boats. Prior notice is required if guests would like to hire snorkelling equipment. Above the dive centre, guests can find a relaxing sundeck, equipped with sun loungers, parasols and wide sea views. Froggies Bunaken is located just 15km from Manado or 24km from the airport, with airport shuttles available at an additional cost.
The dive centre at Froggies Bunaken is located directly on the water's edge, with the dive boats mooring on the beach out front. Up to 4 dives are offered each day, with a typical schedule of 2 morning-dives, 1 afternoon-dive and a possible night dive. Boats return to the resort for lunch and a minimum of two divers is needed for night dives. Each boat is equipped with first aid kits, oxygen and life jackets and staff are regularly trained in their use. Froggies Bunaken’s experienced guides also make a point of offering long safety stops where guests can enjoy the upper portion of the reef. Bunaken National Park covers close to 900km2 and boats a number of dive sites with incredible walls and an abundance of sea life, although occasional day trips to the coast of North Sulawesi are also organised.
Additional features offered by Froggies Bunaken include unrestricted dive times on day dives, EAN 32% and a shallow lagoon for training. Tanks are equipped with yoke valves, although a small number can be adapted. With only 3 DIN adapters available, guests are advised to bring their own if possible. Dive groups are kept small, with a maximum of 4 guests per guide, and mixing of certification and experience levels is avoided. Regularly inspected and maintained equipment is available to rent at an additional cost. A whole range of PADI course are available, including several freediving courses.
