L’Archipel Cottages is located just a few-minute stroll from the beach and dive centre and offers thatched island-style accommodation. Each room boasts a terrace overlooking the swimming pool and an open-plan private bathroom with hot water shower, towels and free toiletries. Additional facilities include queen-size beds, air-conditioning, wardrobe and safety deposit box. Guests can enjoy a variety of Indonesian, Italian and other international dishes on-site, with beverages and refreshments also available.
Villa Bulan Madu is located right next to the dive centre and is just a few steps from the water’s edge. This resort’s custom-built villas are situated within a superb private garden equipped with a dining gazebo and lounge chairs, offering fabulous views and relaxation areas. Each villa is equipped with a kitchen, air-conditioning, fan, safety deposit box, and a freshwater shower. Guests can enjoy a range of dishes from the onsite restaurant, quench their thirst at the poolside bar, or indulge in a range of in-house massage and spa services.
Between dives, guests can relax beside the pool or in one of the many beanbags while enjoying a variety of refreshments including beer, soft drinks, Lombok coffee, espresso and locally-made chocolate cookies. Stand-up paddleboards can be rented directly from the dive centre and snorkelling equipment is available from the local tour operator on-site. Snorkellers and ‘boat-sitters’ can also be accommodated on the dive boat if there is space. The dive centre boasts one of the best wifi connections on the island, allowing guests to easily read through online course material, update social media or even work – making it the perfect spot for digital nomads.
With their peaceful laid-back atmosphere, the Gili islands are quickly becoming a hotspot for yoga training and retreats, so facilities and classes for all levels are easy to find. Surfing is also a big part of the modern local culture, with exciting breaks at the southern coasts of Gili Air and Gili Trawangan. Directly across the Strait from the dive centre, there is an 18 hole championship golf course which offers a challenging experience for golfers of all levels. One day and half-day packages are available including transport, green fees, club rental, buggy, caddy, lunch, and drinks. Other easily accessible activities on the Gili Islands include sub-winging, beach volleyball, and traditional Indonesian spas. Neighbouring Lombok also offers volcano trekking and plenty of waterfalls.
3WDive Gili Air’s two traditional wooden outrigger boats ensure safe and comfortable journeys to all of the Gilis’ dive sites. Each boat is equipped with oxygen and first aid kits, coffee, tea, water and fresh fruit – with the larger of the two also boasting a sundeck. The dive centre offers up to three dives a day, as well as additional night dives, to a variety of sites around the islands - all less than 20-minutes from the dive centre. Groups are kept small, with only 4 divers per guide, and are arranged according to experience and air consumption.
The dive centre at 3WDive Gili Air incorporates a training pool with a shaded area, fresh-water shower, changing rooms and a shop selling scuba diving equipment and merchandise. The dive centre boasts well-maintained Scuba Pro equipment and full gear rental is available – including computers and go-pros. 3WDive offers a full range of SSI courses from beginner to Divemaster, including a range of specialities, as well as Freediving levels 1 and 2. This dive centre uses aluminium tanks with DIN and Int connections.
3WDive Gili Air has formed a partnership with Ocean Gardener, an NGO dedicated to raising awareness about corals and ecosystem restoration. Ocean Gardener uses sustainable coral farming to preserve marine ecosystems and help coastal communities receive income for maintaining the marine environment. Through this partnership, they offer the 3-day Ocean Gardener Coral Diver Course where guests can learn the basics of coral biology, identification and farming – enabling students to plant their own coral fragment and become certified Ocean Gardeners.
This dive centre is also the base of Trash Hero Gili Air, a sustainable community-based project run by island locals. Through this initiative, regular beach clean-ups are organised around the island, with 3WDive offering a free drink to all participants. Reusable Trash Hero bottles can be bought at the dive centre and staff are happy to refill water bottles of passersby.
